French police search Volkswagen offices in emission enquiry

According to reports, the French police on Friday carried out a search at Volkswagen’s offices in France as part of an investigation into the automaker’s cheating on diesel vehicle emissions tests.

The French police searched VW’s main French office in Villers-CotterĂȘts northeast of Paris and another office at Roissy and confiscated computer material.

This came a day after Martin Winterkorn resigned as chief executive of Porsche Automobil Holding, the company that holds a majority of Volkswagen shares.

According to carmakers spokesman who confirmed that the company’s offices had been searched by the French police also said that Volkswagen was cooperating with the authorities.
