Ex-Police Commisioner Zakari Biu Reinstated

The Police Service Commission on Friday, September 4, 2015 approved the reinstated of Zakari Biu, the police commissioner that was dismissed from the Police Force four years ago after a wanted Boko Haram Commander, Kabiru Sokoto, escaped from prison.

Sokoto is the suspected mastermind of the bombing of the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State four years ago, where scores of worshippers were killed.

His reinstatement was made public by the Head, Press and Public Relations of commission, Ikechukwu Ani, who availed that the commission had in a meeting presided over by the its Chairman, Mike Okiro (retd), reviewed Biu’s appeal against his dismissal, exonerated and retired him statutorily.

The PSC also acquitted Biu of blame in the events surrounding the escape of Sokoto, who is now in prison in Abuja.
