Iran offers $80million bounty for Donald Trump's head after death of general
IRAN NEWS: TRUMP'S STRIKE CARRIED OUT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION, "RISKS PROVOKING FURTHER DANGEROUS EXCALATIONO OF VIOLENCE" HOUSE SPEAKER WARNS
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the U.S. strike that killed the commander of Iran's Quds Force "risks provoking further dangerous escalation of violence."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is calling on the Trump administration to immediately brief lawmakers on the U.S. airstrike that killed a top Iranian commander in Iraq and what the White House plans to do next.
The strike in Iraq was directed by President Donald Trump and killed Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's secretive Quds Force, the Department of Defense announced Thursday night.
The move, which is likely to provoke retaliation from Iran, comes amid heightened tensions between the Trump administration and Tehran over rocket attacks aimed at coalition forces in Iraq. U.S. officials have said those attacks were likely carried out by Iranian-backed militias with links to the Quds Force.
"Tonight's airstrike risks provoking further dangerous escalation of violence. America — and the world — cannot afford to have tensions escalate to the point of no return," Pelosi said in a statement late Thursday.
The strike was carried out without an "authorization for use of military force" against Iran and without the consultation of Congress, the speaker said.
"The full Congress must be immediately briefed on this serious situation and on the next steps under consideration by the Administration, including the significant escalation of the deployment of additional troops to the region," Pelosi said.
U.S. airstrike could lead to armed conflict with Iran, Richard Engel says
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., echoed Pelosi in remarks Friday on the Senate floor, saying that Trump will require congressional approval if he plans a large increase in troops to deal with potential hostility over a longer time.
"When the security of the nation is at stake, decisions must not be made in a vacuum," Schumer said. "The framers of the constitution gave war powers to the legislature and made the executive the commander-in-chief for the precise reason of forcing the two branches of government to consult with one another when it came to matters of war and of peace."
The Defense Department characterized the strike on Soleimani as "decisive defensive action to protect U.S. personnel abroad" and said in a statement that the Iranian commander "was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region."
Several Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, praised Trump's move.
"No man alive was more directly responsible for the deaths of more American service members than Qassem Soleimani," McConnell said Friday on the Senate floor just after the chamber gaveled in from its holiday break. McConnell added, "For too long, this evil man operated without constraint, and countless innocents have suffered for it."

'Black people more likely to be in prison than at a top university'- David Cameron
Education chiefs have been summoned to Downing Street on Monday for talks with Business Secretary Sajid Javid to discuss why young black men are more likely to be in prison than studying at a top university.
It comes as Mr Cameron has hired a leading black Labour MP to investigate whether the police and court system is racially biased.
David Lammy will lead a sweeping review into why black people are more likely to be in prison than at a top university, and why black criminals are given harsher sentences than white offenders.
Mr Lammy's review is expected to report on his findings and recommend reforms to the Ministry of Justice in the spring of next year.
Mr Cameron said:
"If you're black, you're more likely to be in a prison cell than studying at a top university. And if you're black, it seems you're more likely to be sentenced to custody for a crime than if you're white. We should investigate why this is and how we can end this possible discrimination.
"Only one in 10 of the poorest white boys go into higher education at all.
"There are no black generals in our armed forces and just 4 per cent of chief executives in the FTSE 100 are from ethnic minorities.
"What does this say about modern Britain? Are these just the symptoms of class divisions or a lack of equal opportunity? Or is it something worse - something more ingrained, institutional and insidious?"
The UK had come a long way, he added, "but there is much more to do, and these examples I mention should shame our country and jolt us to action".
"I don't care whether it's overt, unconscious or institutional - we've got to stamp it out," he added, warning it would otherwise only "feed those who preach a message of grievance and victimhood".
Mr Cameron rejected what he called "politically correct, contrived and unfair solutions" such as quotas but said it was "striking" that Oxford's 2014 intake of more than 2,500 included only 27 black students.
"I know the reasons are complex, including poor schooling, but I worry that the university I was so proud to attend is not doing enough to attract talent from across our country," he said.
The new rules will require routine publication of data on applicants, broken down by course, gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background.
Mr Cameron said public institutions needed to "dig deeper", warning he also intended action to eradicate "the stubborn problem of under-representation in our police and armed forces".
"It's not enough to simply say you are open to all. Ask yourselves: are you going that extra mile to really show people that yours can be a place for everyone, regardless of background?"

Victor Osimhen to join Wolfsburg in 2017
Wolfsburg announced an exchange programme co-operation with the Ultimate Strikers Academy in Nigeria ,Osimhen's former academy, saying players of the academy will have the opportunity to train with the club's various youth and senior sides.
Wolfsburg's Director of Sport Klaus Allofs said on the club's official website:
"We are delighted to welcome our first international cooperation partner, in the Ultimate Strikers Academy, here as VfL Wolfsburg. "For talented youngsters such as Victor Osimhen, it is a major advantage to combine the games at home with the academy team, with knowledge of youth training and operational processes in European professional football."
After he claimed the Youth Player of the Year at the Caf Awards in Abuja earlier this month, Osimhen revealed Wolfsburg was now his preferred destination.
"I have visited the team in Wolfsburg and with the promises the coach made to me when I visited the stadium, I think Wolfsburg is my destination," he said.

Leonardo DiCaprio meets Pope Francis
'Your Holiness, thank you for granting me this private audience with you,' DiCaprio said in Italian as he arrived in the Apostolic Palace and kissed the pope's ring.
He gave the pope a cheque from his charitable foundation and presented him with a book of works by the 15th-century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.
'As a child I didn't quite understand what it all meant, but through my child's eyes it represented a planet, the utopia we had been given, the overpopulation, excesses, and the third panel we see a blackened sky that represents so much to me of what's going in in the environment,' DiCaprio told the pope.

Two BASE jumpers drown in Big Sur tragedy
The two thrill-seekers have been missing in the Big Sur area since Saturday morning.
Monterey County Sheriff's officials say a video from a helmet camera shows Mary Katherine 'Katie' Connell, of Ventura, descending nearly 300 feet and landing on Bixby Creek, which feeds into the Pacific.
Shortly after the landing, three large waves overtake her and she vanishes from view, presumably having been dragged out to sea.
Sheriff Steve Bernal says her companion, identified as a BASE jumping instructor from Finland, then leaped off the bridge to help her, reported the stationKION.
While the male victim's name was being withheld by the authorities pending the notification of next of kin, it is believed that the man who attempted to save Katie Connell was Rami Kajala.
According to his Facebook page, Kajala, a Finnish national, was a BASE jumping instructor and flight suit designer who was friends with Ms Connell.
His final status update, dated January 13, featured more than a half-dozen photos of the young woman jumping from a cliff in Perris, California, in one of Kajala's custom-made 'tracking' suits.
According to his website and his social media postings, Kajala had been BASE jumping since 2003 and had 2,500 jumps to his name. In 2013, he started the company RavenBase.com, which manufactures and sells tracking suits designed to fly.
'BASE' is a term that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: building, antenna, span and Earth.
Practitioners of the extreme sport parachute or wingsuit-fly from man-made structures or cliffs.
Kajala, who referred to himself as a 'master jedi tracker,' operated a BASE jumping school offering courses in the art of tracking.
